About RoboCup Thailand

“History”

Thai Robotics Society-TRS (www.trs.or.th) has established several activities to promote Robotics in Thai since 2002. One of important missions is to organize robot competitions in collaborations with Industrial Companies and Academic Institutions. TRS has been organizing several events which to select the best national team for each league to attend the World RoboCup as the country’s representatives.

In 2002, TRS in collaboration Seagate Technology (Thailand) organized the first RoboCup related event in Thailand, known as “RoboCup Thailand Championship.” The contest was only competing in the Small-Size Soccer Robot League. In the same year, the Thailand’s champion, “Plasma-Z,” from Chulalongkorn University, was the first country’s representative team to attend the World RoboCup event. Since then, the Thailand RoboCup Championship event (for Small-Size Soccer Robot Only) has been continuously organized, and has been generating Thai representative teams to attend the World RoboCup Event until today.

In 2005, TRS in collaboration with SCG (formerly known as “Siam Cement Group”) organized the first rescue robot competition in Thailand, known as “Thailand Rescue Robot Championship.” The first national champion to attend the World RoboCup as the country’s representative team in Rescue Robot League was the “Independent” from KMUTNB-Prachinburi Campus. Within two years, the competition became the most popular robot competition in Thailand with attending teams in average of a hundred teams each year, until today. In 2008 and 2009, there was a number of leading international rescue robot teams to attend the Thailand Rescue Robot Championships.

In 2010, TRS in Collaboration with Seagate Technology (Thailand) organized the first humanoid robot competition in Thailand, while the KMUTT humanoid robot team has won the first Thailand Humanoid Robot Soccer Championship.

The Thai National Committee has been approved at the World RoboCup Trustee Board meeting in Graz, Austria, June 2009. Therefore, this website is an official website for “Thai National Committee” for joining activities of RoboCup Federation.
